Set Up & Tear Down

Action pistol matches require labor intensive set up and tear down.  Set up is often done on the day prior to the event.  Please contact the match director if you are able to help with set up and please help break stages down after the match.  By working together, we can maintain safe, fun, and manageable matches for our members and guests to enjoy.

Description

CAS or Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted amateur shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the Old West: single action revolvers, lever action rifles, and side by side double-barreled, pre-1899 pump, or lever action shotguns.

Firearms must be centerfire calibers of at least .32 caliber and no larger than .45 caliber or percussion calibers of at least .36 caliber and no larger than .45 caliber. Must be in a caliber commonly available in revolvers. Examples include, but are not limited to, .32-20, .32 Magnum, .357 Magnum, .38 Special, .44 Magnum, .44- 40, and .45 Colt.

The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, Old West style. Contestants shoot in several four firearm (2 pistols, rifle and shotgun) stages (courses of fire) in which they engage steel targets in a specifically designed scenario and shooting sequence. They may be shooting steel plate targets, knock down targets, shotgun targets with flyers to engage, plate racks and more.

The Pima Pistol Club Cowboy Match is every 2nd Saturday on Range 9 (the Pit) beginning at 8:00 a.m. for the months of May to September and at 9 :00 a.m. for October through April. Match cost is $15.00 per shooter.

The match involves 6 different stages. You will need 60 rifle rounds, 60 pistol rounds and at least 24 shotgun rounds at a minimum.

Shooters can register on line at www.Practiscore.com or pay at the range office upon arrival before the match
