TJ Kenney

Kenny.jpg

Greetings members. My name is TJ Kenney and I am honored to run for President of Pima Pistol Club.

My dedication to this club’s mission is rooted in my service as an Army veteran, my work as a Range Safety Officer here at PPC, and my passion for shooting sports. Over the past two years, I have gained critical insight into club operations by serving as Secretary and Vice President. This hands-on experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of our bylaws, budgeting and financial needs, and the short and long-term challenges of running a successful shooting range. Furthermore, I have been heavily involved in fostering the club community and culture, lending time and effort to club events like our Swap Meet and BBQ.

My platform is centered on building on the successes and range improvements I have supported this year as VP, while proactively ensuring our long-term stability and growth. If elected, I will focus on 3 key areas. First, I will continue building on the popular changes and infrastructure improvements we've implemented this year, ensuring our range remains a top-tier venue for all members. Second, I am committed to improving the member experience by listening to feedback, enhancing club amenities, and ensuring transparency. Finally, I will bring in new ideas to generate revenue through partnerships with instructors and industry supporters, grants, and creative programming.

If you like the club improvements we have made this year, I ask for your vote so I can continue to use my proven track record and expertise to keep the club strong and successful.

I am endorsed by Match Directors JR Rayl (USPSA), Aaron Brudenell (BUG), Jeremy Hayes (.22 Precision), Tony Conesa (PCSL), and Bruce Rischar (Rimfire Challenge), as well as the Straight Shooters Youth Shooting Group.

I proudly endorse the following candidates: Brian Popelas, Eric Rossi, Jeremy Parmenter, Mary Jo Parker, Jim Schecter, and Brittany Klein.

John France

France.jpg

John France, PPC Membership #209.

I have been a member of the Pima Pistol Club since 1988. I am running for President because I was alarmed to find out that only a few of the existing board members are running for re-election. I am running for President to provide my leadership skills and management experience to the Board of Directors so that we and our club employees can build on the successes of prior administrations and provide you with a safe shooting environment.
I have been an avid firearms competitor for more than fifty years, a member of USPSA, IDPA and NRA, as well as a certified NRA Firearms Instructor. For the past 42 years, I have concentrated on practical shooting sports, including IPSC, USPSA and IDPA. I have competed in 42 national championships and 8 world championships.

I was a U.S. Border Patrol Agent for nearly 32 years and held prominent positions, including the Patrol Agent in Charge of the Casa Grande, AZ Border Patrol Station; Deputy Chief of the Detroit Border Patrol Sector with oversight of all operations covering 863 miles of international boundary between Canada and the states of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois; Assistant Chief Patrol Agent at Tucson Border Patrol Sector with oversight of the busiest section of the U.S./Mexico border - The Tucson Sector West Desert, which consisted of 146 miles of border with Mexico from Nogales, AZ, to Yuma County. I retired from the Border Patrol in June 2010.
For the next 14 years I performed various contract work in the U.S. and abroad related to border security and national security. My contract work included developing a curriculum for a Border Patrol Academy for foreign nationals and instructing Kenyan and Ugandan law enforcement officers in that program in Kenya. I taught foreign law enforcement officers the Border Control Management course for the U.S. Department of State’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program in Nigeria, Paraguay, Brazil, and Kenya. As a Contract Special Investigator, I conducted hundreds of background investigations required for security clearances for the U.S Department of Homeland Security. I taught 55 classes of firearms, use of force and related AZ laws to Armed Guards, certified by AZ DPS, who were contracted with the U.S. Border Patrol in a support role. I performed my last contract work in December 2024. I am retired from all employment.

If elected as President of Pima Pistol Club, I will be a good steward of our club funds and property. I will be transparent and fair. We must continue to generate the necessary revenue to maintain our facilities, but business should not interfere with or replace our fellowship as a club. I would appreciate your vote and support.

2026 PPC Vice President

Duties of the PPC Vice President

The Vice-President shall perform the duties of the President in his/her absence or at his/her request. In the absence of the Treasurer and with the Treasurer’s permission the Vice-President shall be the second signatory on the PPC checking account, for purchases approved by the BOD. The Vice-President shall perform other duties as specified in these Bylaws.

Dear PPC Member,

As a candidate for Vice President of Pima Pistol Club, I bring over two President years of dedicated service as a Range Safety Officer and a strong foundation of leadership and discipline developed during my four years as an Infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. My background reflects a commitment to structure, accountability, and teamwork—values that directly support the mission and integrity of our club.

I've played an active role in developing and refining previous versions of the club's Range Safety Manual, ensuring our standards remain both safe and practical for every member. I've seen firsthand how a well-run, safety-focused range benefits everyone—from new shooters to seasoned competitors—and I'm ready to take that experience to the next level.

As an active competitive shooter with two years in the Carry Optics division of USPSA, I currently hold an A-Class ranking and am working toward Master Class. This ongoing pursuit of improvement keeps me closely connected to the shooting community and attuned to the evolving needs and expectations of our members and guests.

If elected Vice President, I will focus on enhancing safety, improving range usability, and tailoring the range use experience for all who visit Pima Pistol Club to one that best suits its users needs. My goal is to continue building on the club's strong foundation while promoting an environment of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and excellence.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my background and vision for Pima Pistol Club. I am deeply grateful for your consideration and support—both for me as a candidate and for the continued success of our club. Together, we can strengthen the traditions that make Pima Pistol Club exceptional while working toward new improvements that ensure the club remains a safe, welcoming, and world-class shooting environment for all who visit.

Sincerely,

Scott C. Johnston

Greg Guertin

I have lived in Tucson since moving here in 2014, and the Pima Pistol Club is where I discovered my love for competitive shooting.

And I am running for the board as Secretary and Officer (member at large) because I love Pima Pistol Club and feel that it is the membership that makes this organization great! During my time as secretary, I promised transparency and accessibility, two promises which I feel I have delivered on by being the driving force behind virtual board meetings and compiling the most detailed and comprehensive meeting minutes in recent years, to give you, the membership, better transparency into the club’s operations. I have not been afraid to speak up when necessary, and I feel that healthy debate, not controlling the narrative, is a necessary component of compromise and moving this club forward.

Pima Pistol Club is an organization with a robust and diverse group of members comprising recreational, competitive, and educational shooters from all skill levels and walks of life, but regardless of our individual backgrounds, we all share a common interest– a love of the shooting sports!

All too often now, our community finds our enjoyment for shooting being challenged by outside influences, and I believe that the best way to address these challenges is by encouraging the growth of shooting activities and sports, and doing so with an emphasis on education and safety.

As a 20-year veteran of the US Air Force and Air National Guard, much of my experience in problem-solving and leadership comes from a willingness to listen, consider, and then implement ideas that have the organization’s people at heart.

As a veteran and current member of the Arizona National Guard, I have spent years serving my country, and now I want to serve you, my fellow members of Pima Pistol Club! Please consider me for a position as secretary or board member at large in this December’s elections, and together we can strengthen and grow Pima Pistol Club, and our love of the shooting sports for generations to come!

2025 PPC Treasurer

My motivation to serve is simple: I want to be involved in the Board to better the club and ensure its core principles are shared responsibly with the broader community. As Director, I will commit to supporting initiatives that enhance the member experience and ensure our long-term growth and success.

Hi my name is Brittany Klein, and I’m a firearms instructor and competitive shooter here at Pima Pistol Club. I was born and raised in Arizona and have always loved the outdoors — whether it’s hiking, camping, fishing and, of course, shooting.

I truly believe that Pima Pistol Club is the best shooting range in Tucson, and I’m deeply invested in its continued success. I hope to work alongside the board and our members to implement positive changes, strengthen our programs, and help our community continue to grow.

I’m also honored to be endorsed by Match Directors JR Rayl (USPSA), Aaron Brudenell (BUG), Jeremy Hayes (.22 Precision), and Tony Conesa (PCSL) whose confidence in my leadership and dedication to our club means a great deal to me. Together, I believe we can continue to make Pima Pistol Club a place we’re all proud to call home.
